Warhammer RPG SITREP: Striking Deep
Dom and Pádraig get chatty
Last week we took a look at the freshly-announced Carngrad Adventures, the next offering for Cubicle 7 Games’ Soulbound: Champions of Chaos line. They didn’t keep up waiting long for it, as it was listed for preorder this week. Sure you’ll have to wait for the first quarter of 2027 for physical delivery, but as usual you’ll get a PDF straightaway. You can also simply buy the PDF as a standalone for half the price (USD $19.99 vs $39.99).
Meanwhile, Dominic McDowell and Pádraig Murphy of Cubicle 7 were guests this week on Deep Strike, the Warhammer TV show that goes behind the scenes of Warhammer animations, video games, and other licensed products. Host Alex Doddy kept it light, guiding a conversation around role-playing games that was largely accessible to a non-RPG audience who might be interested in expanding their Warhammer gaming horizons. As a result, while it is somewhat skippable for those wanting to get in under the hood a bit more with Cubicle 7’s games, there were still interesting conversations around topics like:
How they approached translating Warhammer into a role-playing game.
How the rulebooks and models of the tabletop wargame inform their RPG design.
What it was like designing the first-ever Age of Sigmar RPG, and what their favorite parts of it were (spoiler: it’s the city of Brightspear!)
Why they’ve opted to create new systems rather than adapt existing ones (for example, Wrath & Glory vs Imperium Maledictum)
You also get some truly useful insights to some of their game worlds. For example, in the Wrath & Glory setting of the Gilead System, being completely surrounded by the Cicatrix Maledictum means that its people have no idea whether or not the greater Imperium beyond even still exists. As a result, it’s a tiny bubble of the greater Imperium, and if you die, notes McDowell, “you will be missed.” That gives a sort of importance and immediacy to the player characters they may not otherwise have, and lends itself to the game’s heroic theme.
It’s certainly worth a watch if you’re a subscriber to WarhammerTV, and I hope they’ll continue to feature more about Warhammer’s role-playing games in the future.
Organizing Wonder, Redux
Two weeks ago I talked about the new, limited-edition maps that were being offered by Cubicle 7, and some website ordering issues that they were experiencing. This led to them posting on Facebook a note about the extension of the limited run (see the above screenshot). While I haven’t seen anything posted about a date extension, they were due to conclude the ordering window on 04 MAY, and at time of writing they’re still available on the webstore- but only they know for how much longer.

This week, Ill Met by Morrslieb was back with another review of a WFRP 2e adventure, this time Terror in Talabheim. These reviews are always very in-depth and thorough, and it was an interesting dive into a well-regarded adventure.
Meanwhile over on Reddit, u/Delta1116732 shared a Warhammer 40K galaxy map with the r/40krpg community. While not ‘to scale,’ it’s a useful tool for GM’s and players alike to get a general sense of place in what is undoubtedly a massive universe. Nice work!
